Payal is Shashi Gupta's daughter from his first marriage. Tired of Shashi's lack of ambition, her mother left them for a better future. Payal was ten when Shashi married Garima. Garima bonded with Payal right away. They became each other's strength.
Garima is a very quiet, unassuming person. Khushi is beyond her comprehension but Payal is her daughter of heart. Even though she loves both of them, Payal understands Garima more than Garima understands herself. May be that's why it was so easy for Payal to accept Garima as her mother and vice versa.
Two years later, when Garima's sister and brother-in-law died in a car accident, 6 years old Khushi came to live with them. All her life, Payal wanted a sister. Unfortunately, Garima could not have kids. When Khushi arrived, all scared and big doe eyes, Payal fell in love with the little porcelain doll then and there. Payal gave all the love from her little heart to Khushi and received more in return.
Payal was always very shy and introvert child but a modern, smart and educated woman. She is like the calm river which flows unassumingly giving life to people around it but never let her presence felt. She always has to protect Khushi from all mishaps that she seems to get into due to her harebrained schemes. But deep down inside, she loves Khushi's antics as she is everything Payal is not.
Payal has never been in love before. But like every other woman, she has been dreaming of her prince charming. Her dreams are not as dramatic as Khushi. All she wants is a caring and loving husband who will love her for who she is.
Payal has a scooty which she uses to go everywhere which Khushi, in her usual way, has named "Tomato". Khushi keeps teasing Payal that she blushes like Tomato and she rides her Tomato too. She usually prefers to avoid travelling in Khushi's car, Daisy, as Khushi's driving is usually termed as "creative"… But she can't say no to Khushi, so occasionally, she is the hapless passenger in Khushi's car. Rest of the family avoid Khushi's car like the plague.
In her spare time, she grabs her scooty and her camera and goes wherever her whim takes her to take pictures. She loves to express her emotions through her pictures. Her favourite subjects are nature and of course, her darling sister, Khushi…
Payal studied International Economics and Finance in Indian Institute of Business Management. She was one of the toppers of the university. Later she did her masters in the same and did one year internship. Now she is ready to gain practical experience. She is currently looking for a job as Financial Analyst.
